Self-directed Learning
Through a self-directed approach, educators independently explore resources that support and enhance their identified professional learning goals in mathematics education. This STELLAR route has a specified operational budget*, and takes place within a defined period of time.
Sample STELLAR self-directed learning opportunities may include, but are not limited to:
a. professional reading - books, subscriptions to journals, etc.,
b. webinars,
c. online courses/modules which are not eligible for a mathematics bursary,
d. research projects.
Note: STELLAR funding may not be used solely for
- the purchase of classroom supplies, manipulatives, or technology;
- prep time to prepare centre work, class materials, etc.
* Budget may include: Materials/Resources up to a maximum of $300; Registration fees up to a maximum of $300. Up to a maximum of 1 day of leave may be provided. All monetary values stated are in Canadian dollars. Please do not make STELLAR-funded purchases through a school account. Reimbursements can only be made directly to individual educators, not to school accounts.
