Celebrate 75: Honour the Past, Celebrate the Present, Embrace the Future

April 1, 2024 marks Newfoundland and Labrador’s 75th anniversary of Confederation with Canada. Building on the theme of "Honor the Past, Celebrate the Present, Embrace the Future”, students and teachers are invited to embark on a journey of reflection, celebration, and innovation to commemorate this significant milestone. 

While acknowledging the historical components of Confederation, this is an opportunity to delve into the essence of who we are as peoples, as communities, as Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and as Canadians. Newfoundland and Labrador is home to a myriad of cultures, traditions, perspectives and voices, each contributing to our collective identity. 

As we celebrate the diverse tapestry of our people, these lesson plans, resources and activities are intended to foster student exploration of their own place in Newfoundland and Labrador’s story.
