Brad Clarke, Director of Program Development, gives an overview of the Professional Learning Model for teachers. He talks about the necessary components of effective professional learning: individual reflection, small group collaboration, and large group face-to-face meetings.

Reflection

  • Reflect on your previous professional learning experiences. What aspects have been most effective, and why?
  • How are you going to gather the information necessary to teach this new curriculum?
  • What mechanisms are you going to employ to build your collaborative network?
  • As you move through the various components – the multimedia product, collaboration with colleagues, and the large group session – think about the PLC “wheel” used in this presentation. How can you relate this to your professional learning experiences?
